ALTAANA Essential

The grading layer fashion is missing.

A data-backed way for brands and production teams to grade consistently, so the "M" on every tech pack means the same predictable thing across the line and over time. Built on translation data from millions of cross-brand size matches.

01 / The Problem

Your "M" means something different in every brand.

Most brands grade from a master spreadsheet maintained by one or two people. When they leave, the logic leaves with them. The result is inconsistent sizing across the line, return rates that climb with every season, and a shopper who brackets two sizes to find one that fits.

This is where sizing actually breaks. Not at the size chart. At the grade.

02 / The Cure

Grading intelligence for the production team.

ALTAANA takes the three variables every technical designer already adjusts by hand, fabric behavior, base pattern, and the body the sample was built on, and produces a consistent, explainable grade. Every measurement traces back to a rule. Same logic, every size, every season.

  • Consistent grade across your full line
  • Explainable spec, not tribal knowledge
  • Export-ready for your PLM

03 / The Proof

We learned where grading drifts by measuring it across brands.

ALTAANA started as a consumer research probe, a Chrome extension trained on 12 brands that returned translated size recommendations to shoppers. It started reliably sizing shoppers across dozens of brands it was never trained on. That told us the underlying problem was fixable: the system wasn't matching brands, it was learning the translation layer between bodies, fabrics, and sizing.

That's the data signal behind every grade ALTAANA produces.

04 / The Longer Arc

What consistent grading unlocks downstream.

Once sizing is consistent at the source, the shopper experience can finally evolve: see how a garment reads on a body that looks like yours, in the light you'll wear it in, before you buy. This is what we're building toward.

Which body is closest to yours?

Which skin tone is closest to yours?

A prototype with two bodies and two tones for now. The full range of bodies and skin tones comes at launch.

How did this feel? Did seeing it on a body like yours, in your light, change how confident you'd feel buying it?

This is just one piece. Imagine your whole closet.

Why ALTAANA exists

Sizing is the last unregulated layer of consumer goods. There is no universal standard, no central authority, and brands have a quiet incentive not to converge. The result is a shopper who can't trust her size and a production team patching the problem downstream. ALTAANA fixes it at the source, at the grade, where sizing is actually decided, so brands keep their identity and shoppers get reliability.

“Five years in fashion taught me that ‘what size am I?’ is the wrong question. The real one is: ‘why does the answer keep changing?’ ALTAANA exists to fix that, first at the grade, where sizing is decided, then everywhere downstream.”
